Sunday night in Nashville, I walked off stage for the final time on my #IAmBecoming tour. After 34 stops, from Chicago to Copenhagen and Vancouver to Atlanta, I couldn’t be more humbled—or more hopeful. I started this journey knowing that in order for you all to know who I was, you had to know my whole story—the broken parts, the struggles, and the imperfections. It wasn’t always easy to share those moments, but I know that it’s only because of them that I was able to become something more. So thank you all—all the young people I met along the way, all the folks sitting in the balconies, all the book clubs who generated real discussions—for recognizing that truth in your own lives, and for sharing it not just with me but with the world. If each of us can do more of that, if we can be a little more vulnerable, a little more honest with ourselves and with each other, then maybe we can pay that lesson forward to someone else. Maybe we’ll be able to offer each other a little more grace. And maybe then, we can more fully embrace the ways we are the same. To me, that’s how we can all keep becoming, together.

A portrait of Her Majesty The Queen in her Garter robes, taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz at Buckingham Palace on 28th March 2007. This portrait was past of a set of four photographs commissioned by the Royal Household to celebrate The Queen’s State Visit to the United States in 2007, which coincided with the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. Some video were made during the photoshoot, for the BBC documentary "A Year With The Queen" (see above). However, its promotional trailer wrongly gave the impression that The Queen had stormed out of the shoot. Leibovitz said: "I think it would look better without the crown, less dressy". The Queen then interrupted her: "Less dressy? What do you think this is?". In the trailer, the following scene showed her walking away and complaining to her dresser Angela Kelly: "I'm not changing anything. I've had enough dressing like this, thank you very much!" But she actually said that on her way to the sitting – before she met Annie Leibovitz and her staff. The shoot became headline news, earning the nickname "Queengate" in the media. Peter Fincham, then controller of BBC1, described the encounter as "a very memorable little sequence". The BBC later apologised to both The Queen and Annie Leibovitz, and Peter Fincham was forced to resign. In a statement, the BBC admitted that the sequence of events had been "misrepresented" and that The Queen had not walked out. Leibovitz, who became the first American to make an official portrait of The Queen, later described Her Majesty as "a bit cranky" but "feisty" and praised her devotion to duty.

🌎💔🇺🇸 Last week, a bill was signed into law in Georgia that is a near-total ban on abortion. This marks the fourth “heartbeat” law to be passed in the United States in the last year – a name that is designed to be emotive. It refers to the first signs of the development of a heart in a fetus at 6 weeks of pregnancy, long before most people know they are pregnant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍑💔 Georgia’s bill stands out for going one step further in including personhood language, criminalising not just abortion providers, but also pregnant people for having abortions or even miscarrying. Today, Alabama passed its own law banning abortion except when the health of the mother is at risk. We remember that Savita Halappanavar died in Ireland with the same law on the books. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇬🇧💔 Currently, women & pregnant people living in Northern Ireland are forced to travel to mainland Britain for abortion care that is illegal in their home country. There will always be people who cannot travel because of domestic violence, immigration status, and disability. People living in Northern Ireland and the USA deserve the dignity of accessing safe, legal & local reproductive healthcare at home. #nowforni These laws won't stop women and pregnant people from having abortions, or from making the best decision for their bodies and families, it will just mean they are forced to do so unsafely and with stigma. #reproductiverightsforall ✊ Please join me in supporting @plannedparenthood @womenhelporg @all4choice @abortionsupportnetwork ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
