{"id":13198,"date":"2019-11-18T06:32:42","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T06:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newlife.com.cy\/?p=13198"},"modified":"2019-11-18T06:33:05","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T06:33:05","slug":"seated-dumbbell-front-raise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newlife.com.cy\/en\/seated-dumbbell-front-raise\/","title":{"rendered":"Seated dumbbell front raise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h2>Exercise details<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Target muscle:<\/strong> Anterior Deltoid<\/li>\n<li><strong>Synergists:<\/strong> Lateral Deltoid, Upper (Clavicular) Pectoralis Major, Serratus Anterior, Middle and Lower Trapezius<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mechanics:<\/strong> Isolation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Force:<\/strong> Push<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Starting position<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Holding a dumbbell in each hand, sit on a chair or bench and allow the dumbbells to hang straight down by your sides.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Execution<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Keeping your elbows very slightly flexed, exhale as you raise the dumbbells forward and upward in a semicircular motion until your arms rise a little above horizontal.<\/li>\n<li>Hold for a count of two.<\/li>\n<li>Inhale as you lower the dumbbells in a controlled manner to the starting position.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Comments and tips<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not swing the dumbbells.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your back neutral and against the back support (if sitting on a chair).<\/li>\n<li>Only your arms should move. Keep your body still.<\/li>\n<li>If you must sway your body back and forth to raise the dumbbells, the dumbbells are too heavy. Reduce the weight.<\/li>\n<li>There are different ways in which you can hold the dumbbells during the seated dumbbell front raise. You can maintain a neutral (hammer) grip or a pronated (overhand) grip throughout the movement. As in the illustration, you can also start off the raise using a neutral grip and, as your arms pass your legs, you can rotate (pronate) your wrists so that your palms face downward at the top of the movement. I recommend that you maintain a neutral grip, as this reduces the chances of shoulder impingement.
